Fade Away

Protecting a candle against the wind
If I let go the flame will fly
but will it die?
To stand against a power
much greater than my own
is it possible to keep
that fire?
Alone, I must choose
but with you..?
Your hands are enclosed around mine
but they fade
flickering like the flame
in my palm
the distance grows
pressing my mind until even
the densest clouds
are blown away
the answer is clear
although my thoughts
are still lost
I have been holding on
for far too long
My hands open and you disappear
Time will have to wait
because it is my turn
to move forward
I will miss you
but in my flight
I will find my light

  1. This is very good it got a little confusing in the middle but over all I liked the poem. If you have any more like this floating around in that head of yours post them. I hope to see more.

  2. Wow this is such a good poem! I like the lines "If I let go the flame will fly, but will it die?" Its so beautiful.Just a suggestion, the line "the answer is clear in my thoughts" "are still lost".Just the rhythm of the lines seems a little off. But besides that I really liked it alot !
